Meet 'NRG' also known as 'Red', my Son the 17 year old musical talent, Amber my Daughter; the animation, design & IT part, and myself Max; Producer, Director, Promoter and above all believer in Red’s Life enhancing artistic abilities. We're not so much a band, more a team.
Red had just a few basic music lessons at school and nothing else, he cannot read or write notation, does not play anybody else’s tunes and has almost accidentally been exposed to the Keyboard, he never had any intention of a music/arts career, but by fluke of circumstances in the last 18 months, has found himself expressing his feelings through music. When we moved to where we live now, he had to change schools at 15½, suffered bullying and peer rejection, the result of which meant he missed a lot of schooling and stayed at home. We happened to get him a keyboard, just a battery one, something to fill his time with, on which he made 1 tune, when I heard it, I thought "that sounds like a lovely melody" so we thought "let’s get him a better one", just in case this is an area where he could express himself meaningfully, and hopefully feel better about his life, we did so, and then things really started to happen, after a while he was making several original & ear-catching pieces a week, with him just working it out as he went along, we encouraged and supported him, which has continued, with us now having recently got him a proper Keyboard workstation, on which he is able to record, (which has put us into debt, but you have to keep trying!)
I can tell you that his music is very varied and really unlike anything else, hence 'New Genre' with many of them leaving me in tears and stunned into silence. He also creates a drawing for each one and a written account of what inspired him. Only in the last short while, has he accepted that he is an artist, again of which we very much support him, and he has just started to write poetry, a story and is experimenting with painting, which again we found very moving and left us wondering just where he gets it all from!
On the surface, he could easily be considered the ‘boy next door' (He has no artistic affectations whatsoever) just a kid, with a sensitive soul, turning from a boy to a man with all the awkwardness’s and insecurities that that brings.
His confidence would benefit so much from his music being taken seriously by a wider audience outside of the family and being able to afford studio time would also help to develop things considerably.
If you do happen to find his tunes appealing, please do bear in mind that these are created on a keyboard in a bedroom by a 17 year old, whom has had a tough time, but is somehow with our encouragement trying to turn things around, however he really needs the peoples support to keep going and move forward, so if you can, please make a public statement of appreciation by voting and downloading his music, showing that such an achievement is possible even when all can seem loaded against you.
